The laboratory

The Laboratory of Tourism Excellence is established at the Department of Tourism Studies of the University of Piraeus [English Comprehensive Title – Acronym: UPTourism Lab, Full English Title: (U) niversity of (P) iraeus Tourism Excellence Lab], in order to serve the educational and research needs of the Department’s subjects and contributes to the connection of the Department with the companies of the Private and Public Sector.

Purpose

The main mission of the Laboratory of Tourism Excellence is to cover the research needs of the Department of Tourism Studies with the aim of pursuing excellence for the academic staff, students and associates of the Department. The Laboratory of Tourism Excellence is the vehicle for conducting interdisciplinary and applied research in the field of tourism for the benefit of students, the tourism community and society at large.

Through the Laboratory, high quality research is co-created which is disseminated to students and the community with modern teaching methods. It is the appropriate technical structure for the creation of appropriate conditions for the development of research in the tourism sector through cooperation with the entire tourism network, the exchange of information and the creation of implemented policies.

Through the Laboratory of Tourism Excellence, actions are carried out for the academic excellence of Professors of all levels, specialized research studies of students and Professors are carried out, research papers are prepared in scientific journals, presentations at international conferences, and specialized scientific workshops and conferences are organized.

The Laboratory provides know-how, expertise and training projects to Public and Private Bodies in Tourism in the Greek and International Environment. It seeks the extroversion of the Department of Tourism Studies through the conclusion of wider cooperation actions.

The Laboratory of Tourism Excellence operates based on its Internal Regulation of operation as defined by FEK1904B-18.04.2022, the current legislation and the regulations of the University of Piraeus.
